Music is something many children (and adults) love, and that is our goal at the Sioux Falls Children’s Choir: to nurture a lifelong love of music. We want to:
- Help elementary-aged singers grow into lifelong musicians and supporters of music and the arts.
- Give children the opportunity for a well-rounded choral education, including learning to read music and music theory.
- Offer performance experiences to young singers at a variety of events in the community and teach discipline and work ethic.
- Provide the Sioux Falls community a source of pride in the talents and achievements of our youth.
The Sioux Falls Children’s Choir consists of two performance-oriented choral groups, divided by grade level. Young singers with unchanged voices in Grades 2-8 are welcome to join.
Coro Dolce is a training ensemble for Grades 2-3. Students start to learn to read music and music theory, as well as learn how to sing as a group.
Con Brio, for Grades 4-8, is an advanced ensemble focused on higher musical skills and additional performance opportunities. Con Brio made their performance debut with the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra in April of 2019.
Both ensembles are divided into fall and spring semesters, culminating in a concert for friends and family. The choirs perform a wide variety of repertoire, ranging from classical to contemporary. The students also enjoy an enriching social experience through friendships with fellow singers.
